Thank You to the NFL and Joe Cardona
AFAS was thrilled to receive a generous donation from the NFL in honor of Joe Cardona as part of the Salute to Service Award presented by USAA.
Salute to Service represents the NFL’s unwavering dedication to honoring, empowering, and connecting with our nation’s service members, veterans, and their families.
We are thankful for the NFL’s support of Airmen, Guardians, and their families!
The Campaign to Connect “Listening Tour” Continues in Washington State
At the end of May, AFAS CEO Maj Gen (Ret) Ed Thomas continued his Campaign to Connect “listening tour” at Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Seattle. He reports:
“Fantastic morning with first sergeants at McChord Field today near Seattle! Diana, from the Force Support Squadron here, briefed prospective first sergeants on how to use Air Force Aid Society as a first line of defense for Airman, Guardians, and their families!”
By strengthening our connections to the Bases, we ensure that no Airman or Guardian is left behind, and that their families have every resource they require to thrive.
We will continue to share updates from General Thomas on our social media accounts as he travels around the country building stronger relationships between AFAS and those on the front lines with the people we serve.
HAP Arnold Education Grant Awards Announced!
We are thrilled to announce that we have awarded $3.65 Million in Hap Arnold Education Grants to 1,343 dependent scholars!
The General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant program is the centerpiece of the Society’s education support initiatives, awarding competitive education grants to eligible Air Force and Space Force dependents (spouses and children).
The children of Airmen and Guardians face unique challenges due to relocations and deployments. Our education support programs provide a greater sense of stability for these families and ensure all family members can pursue a quality education.
Grants range from $2,000 to $5,000, with the specific amount awarded based upon a student’s individual level of financial need.
Congratulations to all of this year’s worthy recipients!

AFAS CEO Maj Gen (Ret) Ed Thomas said, “We couldn’t be more grateful for Navy Federal Credit Union’s generous, longtime, and ongoing support of Airmen, Guardians, and their families.
