Navy Federal Credit Union Continues its Support for Airmen, Guardians, and Their Families
Through Grants to Air Force Aid Society

ARLINGON, VA – Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) is again partnering with Navy Federal Credit Union to benefit U.S. Air Force and Space Force families. The partnership spans over a decade with nearly $250,000 in Navy Federal grants supporting AFAS programs and services.

Grants are used to provide emergency financial assistance, educational support and community programs to thousands of U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force families, helping to fulfill AFAS’s mission of helping Airmen and Guardians when they need us most.

AFAS CEO Maj Gen (Ret) Ed Thomas said, “We couldn’t be more grateful for Navy Federal Credit Union’s generous, longtime, and ongoing support of Airmen, Guardians, and their families. For more than 10 years, they have had a huge impact on the lives of our service members, helping provide a safety net and keeping them mission ready.”

Funded in part by Navy Federal’s 2024 grant, AFAS expects to provide 9,000 Air Force and Space Force families with financial assistance for emergencies, disaster relief, relocations and more. Philanthropic giving will also support educational grants and scholarships for 1,750 military spouses and dependent children to further their education. Additionally, AFAS will provide childcare assistance and parenting programs for 6,000 Air Force and Space Force children and their families.

“As an Air Force Veteran, I’ve seen firsthand how Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) has benefitted Airmen and their families,” said Jamey Shuls, Member Strategy Office at Navy Federal Credit Union. “Airmen are truly one of our nation’s greatest strengths; and through this partnership, we’re there for them in times of need. We’re honored to go beyond banking to support the Air Force community and amplify our service alongside AFAS.”

Last year, AFAS was a beneficiary of Navy Federal’s 90th Anniversary campaign. Because both organizations are hyper-focused on benefitting military families, the partnership is a natural fit and will continue to support airmen and guardian families in need.
