Spouses Can Earn a Full Scholarship to Columbia Southern University

Spouses of enlisted Airmen and Guardians can apply for the Columbia Southern University Scholarship, offered in partnership with Air Force Aid Society. This year, we’re awarding two full scholarships, each covering up to 60-credit-hours – toward an associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree at CSU.

This incredible opportunity is open exclusively to spouses of enlisted Airmen or Guardians on active duty, Title 10 Reservists on extended active duty, and Title 32 Guard on full-time active duty. Applications will be accepted through March 31st.

Reminder – Tuition Assistance Available

Children, spouses and dependents of Airmen and Guardians who want to pursue a full-time undergraduate degree (this includes 2 year, 4 year and vocational/trade schools) can apply for need-based tuition assistance through our Hap Arnold Education Grant program. Applications for the 2025-2026 academic year are open through April 30th.

Get Paid for Taking Relationship Classes

Military & Family Readiness Centers (M&FRC), in partnership with AFAS, now offers Elevatea free, skills-based program designed to help couples build and sustain healthy relationships. Open to all Department of Defense ID card holders in a committed relationship, this program teaches 7-core relationship skills in a supportive environment.

As an added bonus – Active-duty members in the Air Force and Space Force who complete the full class will receive $160 from AFAS.

Interested couples should contact their local M&FRC for class availability and to sign up.

DAF & AFAS Workshop – Leaders Unite to Strengthen Support

In late January, AFAS CEO Ed Thomas, Chief Operating Officer Kris McBride, and Operations Director Bea Swann joined the Department of the Air Force leadership and the Military & Family Readiness Center at JB Andrews for a powerful two-day workshop.

This event brought together key stakeholders – including the Chief Master Sergeants of the Air Force and Space Force, A1S policy leads, the Air Force Personnel Center, Military and Family Readiness Operations Division, First Sergeants, and more. Discussions led to key recommendations on improving shared processes, refining policies, and enhancing integrated care and support for our force.

A huge thank you to Mr. HL Larry, Director of Air Force Services, and all our partners for their leadership and commitment to taking care of our Airmen, Guardians, and their families!

Did You Know – AFAS Can Help with Dental Care Costs

Most active-duty members receive free dental care on military installations. However, some recommended procedures may not be able to be performed on base, and the member will be referred to a civilian dentist. AFAS will consider requests for assistance in these cases – and may help cover the costs – ensuring service members get the care they need.

To request assistance, apply online.
