Ed Thomas launched the Campaign to Connect, designed to build stronger relationships between AFAS and those on the front lines with the people we serve. General Thomas kicked off the campaign with a “listening tour” at bases around the country to see how AFAS can better serve our force. His first stop was at Joint Base San Antonio where he met with teams from across the area to learn more about the needs in their region and to make sure that our support programs are reaching the Airmen, Guardians, and their families who need us most. General Thomas also stopped by Blue Skies of Texas, and visited USAA San Antonio Headquarters to thank them for their support of AFAS. Last month, AFAS CEO Maj Gen (Ret.) Ed Thomas launched the Campaign to Connect, designed to build stronger relationships between AFAS and those on the front lines with the people we serve, including Military and Family Readiness Centers, First Sergeants, Command Teams, spouse organizations, and others can help us make sure that our support programs are reaching the people who need them most.

AFAS’ Emergency Financial Assistance Program helps families like the Diibons in San Angelo, Texas. When 12-year-old Damien Diibon began to need a power wheelchair to get around independently, AFAS was able to help the family pay for a wheelchair lift for their van. Their story can be viewed below. Visit our website, AFAS.org, to access our support programs, or make a donation to help a family like the Diibons.     Hap Arnold Education Grant Program Accepting Applications until April 30th Another AFAS program that helps support the children and families of our Airmen and Guardians is our Hap Arnold Education Grant Program, currently open for applications. Financial assistance for educational expenses helps ensure that Air Force and Space Force children have access to quality education, regardless of the challenges posed by relocations and deployments. This support promotes continuity in their academic journey,

Arnold Education Grant program awards competitive education grants to eligible Air Force and Space Force dependents based on family financial need. The application process for the Hap Arnold Education Grant also serves as the platform to access other important AFAS education support opportunities. The application deadline for this grant opportunity is April 30th, 2024. Make sure to submit your FAFSA now so you have the required FAFSA Submission Summary before the April 30 application deadline.
