ARLINGON, VA – Air Force Aid Society is thrilled to announce that we have awarded 40 scholarships to incoming college freshman totaling $200k. Twenty scholars earned Merit Scholarships and 20 additional scholars earned our new Grit Scholarship.
Each year, AFAS awards a number of merit-based scholarships as a complement to the needs-based support allocated through the Hap Arnold Education Grant program. This year, 20 incoming college freshmen being considered for the Hap Arnold Education Grant who exhibited the highest levels of scholarship were selected based on cumulative GPA, high school transcripts, and a 1-3 minute video on the subject of mental health.
For academic year 2024-2025, Air Force Aid Society is providing $100,000 in $5,000 Merit Scholarships to 20 outstanding Air Force and Space Force dependent scholars:

New this year: A selection of Hap Arnold Grant applicants were invited to apply for a new opportunity this year, the Grit Scholarship. Candidates submitted a 1-3 minute video describing a time in their life when they had to use grit to overcome a specific challenge.
