Hurricane Helene & Milton Updates

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, Air Force Aid Society swiftly provided essential-financial support to those impacted. To date, we’ve assisted over 1,900 Airmen, Guardians and their families, disbursing more than $1.6M for food, lodging and fuel.

Some of the hardest-hit areas included Tyndall AFB, Hurlburt Field, MacDill AFB, Eglin AFB, Patrick SFB, 125 FW Jacksonville and Moody AFB. The rapid response ensured our members received the help they needed during this difficult time.

However, the situation is far from over. With Hurricane Milton now approaching, we anticipate even more support will be needed in the coming days. Our team is prepared to accept and process applications for assistance as quickly as possible.

As a reminder, all active duty, reserve, guard and retirees are all eligible for AFAS assistance in the event of a natural disaster. We’re here to help when you need us most! Learn more about our support here.

Over $60K Raised Celebrating the Air Force’s 77th Birthday

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the Air Force’s 77th birthday on September 18th. Through the generosity of our donors and the incredible support of First Command’s $25K match, we raised over $60K to directly to support Airmen, Guardians, and their families.

Looking ahead, we’re excited for the upcoming Space Force birthday on December 20th. Your continued support helps make a lasting impact on those who serve! Thank you again for making a difference.

Thank you to our donors and First Command

Campaign to Connect Update

AFAS CEO Maj Gen (Ret.) Ed Thomas continues our Campaign to Connect, an initiative focused on strengthening relationships with Military and Family Readiness Centers, First Sergeants, Command Teams, spouse organizations and those we serve. Recent base visits included:

  • Joint Base Andrews (MD)
Joined by members of the AFAS team, they met directly with Airmen and saw firsthand the incredible work they do every day. The team also had the opportunity to meet with First Sergeants and the Military and Family Readiness Center to discuss how we can better reach – and serve – our Airmen and their families. Thank you again for the hospitality!
  • Patrick Space Force Base (FL)
During this visit, our CEO connected with Guardians, families and the Military and Family Readiness Center staff. He also made it to the Kennedy Space Center and visited with Col Nick Hague and his family before the scheduled launch of Crew 9.

We are committed to enhancing the support we provide to those who serve our nation. Stay tuned for more updates from the Campaign to Connect.
