$11.6 Million in Support in 2025
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and mission supporters, $11.6 million in support reached more than 12,600 Airmen, Guardians, and their families in 2025.
This support included:
- $6.0M in financial assistance for urgent and everyday needs
- $4.4M in scholarships and education support, helping spouses and children pursue academic and career goals
- $1.1M in community programs designed to reduce stress and strengthen family well-being
When our country faced uncertainty during the government shutdown, AFAS responded quickly by providing $1.5M to help 939 families manage pay gaps, food needs, and other urgent expenses.
Together, these efforts reflect our commitment to financial stability, opportunity, and mission readiness for Air and Space Force families.
Reminder: $2,500 in Tuition Assistance for Spouses
Through the Bee Arnold Spouse Tuition Program, eligible spouses can receive up to $2,500 to pursue education and training that builds in-demand skills and supports meaningful employment.
Funding may be used for short-term job training or certifications, as well as part-time undergraduate degree programs, helping spouses gain skills and strengthen career readiness for long-term stability.
This program is open to spouses of U.S. Air Force and Space Force members on active duty, Title 10 Reserve and Guard on extended active duty, and Title 32 Guard performing full-time active duty.

Celebrating 84 Years of Supporting Our Force
On March 9, AFAS proudly celebrates its 84th birthday. Founded in 1942 by General Hap and Bee Arnold as the Army Air Forces Aid Society, the organization was created to address the ongoing needs of Air Force families.
Now known as the Air & Space Forces Aid Society, our purpose remains unchanged: to provide financial assistance, scholarships and education support, community programs, and disaster relief to Airmen, Guardians, and their families – when they need it most.
As we mark this milestone, we’re grateful to everyone who has helped carry this mission forward for more than eight decades and look forward to serving for generations to come.
Did You Know – Retirees Are Eligible for AFAS Support
AFAS doesn’t just serve our active duty, Guard, and Reserve members. Retired Airmen and Guardians, including those on the Temporary Disability Retired List (TDRL), are eligible for assistance too — especially during times of transition or financial hardship.
Support can help address short-term financial challenges, unexpected expenses, and other needs that often arise after military service.
If you or someone you know could use support, contact us at .
Another Government Shutdown Avoided – How We Prepared
While another potential government shutdown was averted this month, AFAS was fully prepared to respond if Airmen and Guardians experienced pay disruptions. Throughout this period, our priority was making sure families would have clear information to access support without delay.
Our team was ready to provide financial assistance and food support, ensuring families would not face hardship alone. This preparedness reflects our commitment to act quickly when uncertainty threatens the financial stability of our Force and their families.
Supporting Organization Spotlight – PMI
This month, we recognize Philip Morris International (PMI) for their generous support of our mission.
PMI’s commitment to social responsibility and community investment ensures critical resources are available to military families – both during everyday challenges and in times of heightened need.
We’re grateful for their continued support of military and veterans’ organizations and for their shared dedication to those who serve.
Tax Season Reminder & Thanks
Tax filing season opened on January 26, and as donors begin gathering documents and preparing to file, we want to thank everyone who supported our mission in 2025.
If you donated last year, your donation confirmations and/or acknowledgment letters may be helpful as you prepare your tax return. For questions related to your individual filing, please consult a qualified tax professional.
The generosity of our donors helps ensure Airmen, Guardians, and their families continue to receive the financial support and resources they need to navigate life’s challenges.
