Dear Air Force/Space Force Family and Military Community,

As you’re aware, the Air Force Aid Society is one of several resources / “help agencies” offered through an Air Force or Space Force installation’s Airman and Family Readiness Center (A&FRC). A&FRC operations are directed by the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. We know from communications with the AF Personnel Center (AFPC) and SF Personnel Center (SFPC) that every A&FRC has Emergency Essential (EE) employees, including a representative, qualified to administer Air Force Aid and Space Force Aid, who are prepared to meet the needs of Airmen, Guardians, and their families. These employees will be on the list of EE personnel positioned to conduct business even if the base is “shut down”.

Of course, every emergency is different, Hurricane Michael was devastating, but we’ve been through those before. A global pandemic will present challenges we have not yet imagined. The most important element about delivering support is the local commander. We fully expect that what we describe above will not survive the FAQ process. However, we will work with the folks on the ground to shape the infrastructure to fit their needs.
